We've done a few postings this year on Google Tools for small businesses such as Slick new Google tool on July 16th and More Google Tools on September 30th. The title of this posting comes from another tip about Google for small businesses and something from Yahoo for search engines, so instead of the usual link to just one article in a posting you are getting two (actually four if you count the two above).
The Google article is from earlier in the year and emphasizes how important a small business Google Local Business Listing is for helping prospective customers find your Web site and gives a word of caution. Due to changes Google makes in their search algorithms it is very important for small business owners to periodically check their listing. The article provides an example on how to check your listing, make any necessary changes, and gives some past history of problems with Google Maps.
Enough about Google for now, the second article is about something that Yahoo has added to their search engine that will use the searchers IP address or Yahoo profile to identify the searchers location to supply more relevant local results. Confused about how that actually works? As in the Google article above, there examples and more tips on how to take advantage of this new feature in the article.
One last point is that both articles have one thing in common besides being about search engines and being posted on Small Business Trends. Can you spot what it is?
